The Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN) A non-profit organization based in Washington, D.C., operates America's only national hotline for victims of sexual assault. The hotline (800.656.HOPE) offers free, confidential counseling and support 24 hours a day, from anywhere in the country. An Abuse, Rape & Domestic Violence Aid & Resource Collection (AARDVARC) Founded in 1996, this site is written, paid for and maintained by a small group of volunteers in our spare time. We met over the years at various domestic violence functions, online chats and message boards. In our current and past careers, we have been police officers, 911 operators, Deputy Clerks of Court, victim advocates, abuse program directors and yes, survivors ourselves.
