Personality Disorders
Narcissistic PersonalityNarcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is a personality disorder characterized by enduring patterns of inner experience and behavior that are sufficiently rigid and deep-seated to bring a person into repeated conflicts with his or her social environment. These dysfunctional patterns must be regarded as nonconforming or deviant by the person's culture, and cause significant emotional pain and/or difficulties in relationships and occupational performance. These problematic behaviors may include an inappropriate perception of themselves and others, intensity and duration of feelings outside of the norm, problems controlling impulses, and difficulty maintaining healthy relationships.
